Lēoht is an open-source project formed of a sandcast pewter shade and a painted aluminium base. The shade is cast by the user themselves, who then refines it and arranges it to suit their needs. By taking part in the process directly, the user gains a clear and hands-on understanding of the choices, materials and effort that shape everyday objects.
Created as a final major project at Northumbria University, this piece was displayed at New Designers, where it was awarded an Allermuir Loves Award, and exhibited at Belsay Hall as part of the Make and Mend exhibition.
